Patterns in the sand [from the series: Revelations at low tide]

When walking the beach on the Isle of Palms, SC I found these patterns in the sand created by the water receding from the shore. I think Leonardo da Vinci said it best when he said:

“[Water] suffers change into as many natures as are the different places through which it passes. And as the mirror changes with the colour of its subject, so it alters with the nature of the place, becoming noisome, laxative, astringent, sulfurous, salty, incarnadined, mournful, raging, angry, red, yellow, green, black, blue, greasy, fat or slim … In time and with water, everything changes.”*

These shots are the studies of the different lines, textures, and movements that water composes during lowtide.
