Wanderlust: Dumbo, Brooklyn

Going on vacation always makes you appreciate your home better – or at least it does for me. I love going to a new place, meeting new people, seeing and experiencing new things. Not only that, but I think it’s a character-developing-imperative to travel and see the world around you – even if it’s just the next state over or across the world. But when I get home, it’s nice to have a moment to decompress, like slipping into a fluffy, warm sweater you’ve owned for years.

One thing people overlook when they think of vacations and travel is that there’s a whole world to experience right outside your door. Many people have started to have staycations in order to make sure they’re experiencing everything their hometown/state has to offer.

Staycation (n.): a vacation spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions.

Being new to NYC, I have many staycation discoveries left to explore. One weekend a few weeks back I decided to walk around and enjoy the areas and neighborhoods of Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Dumbo. I didn’t put any specifics on my agenda, just took in the beautiful architecture, colors, shapes, and beginning of spring greenery and sunlight.
