Wanderlust: The Grand Canyon

A few friends of mine from college have started an amazing tradition. Every year, we pick a state from a hat and we plan a trip to that state. This is all in the hopes that we will eventually visit all 50 states. Last year the ladies picked Arizona, so this past September we flew to Arizona to enjoy everything the state has to offer.

Our first stop was to the Grand Canyon. It was incredible. I had never been, and I can’t stress what an experience it was. There really are no words. And while I don’t think that photographs can truly capture the experience, here are some of my favorites from the trip:

The image above was taken while we sat on the edge of the Canyon and looked up to see the Milky Way. Seriously we could see every star in the sky. Unfortunately my camera wasn’t able to focus, but I was able to leave the shutter open long enough with no tripod to get the colors of the stars from above.

We stayed two days there and possibly the best moment was when we watched the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. It took a little time, but eventually the sun made its way over the clouds and gave us a great show. Click the play button on the instagram below to see my timelapse of the sunrise:
