Engagement Portraits: Candace & Rich
Looking back on this past year’s projects has made me realize how many fun assignments I had and how lucky I’ve been to work with such great people. My very dear friend Candace got engaged in 2016 and I was so honored that she and Rich asked me to do their engagement portraits.
We picked two main locations for the shoot. For the first location we chose to do a short time at the Race Street Pier with a bottle of champagne. The second location we selected was the incomparable Longwood Gardens and there we spent more time because – let’s be honest – you can’t do a short photo shoot at Longwood Gardens.
I really love taking engagement portraits. You get to work with couples and take not only the traditional engagement shots, but also the candid moments between the poses. Getting a shot of the couple’s personality without forcing them into a pose is my favorite part of being a portrait photographer. Don’t get me wrong – I love the traditional poses as well – but when I get a couple to relax and be themselves in front of a camera – that’s when the magic begins.
Here are some of my favorite selections from the day:
A beautiful day with a beautiful couple that was full of laughs. What more can a photographer ask for?
