Wanderlust: Sedona

Before I went to Arizona, I don’t know if I had a hard and fast idea of what to expect from Sedona. Definitely a desert-like terrain, maybe some hippie-like culture, but aside from that I was a blank slate. After being there I now know for a fact that Sedona has some of the loveliest views I’ve ever seen.

On the east coast you don’t get the opportunity to see rolling rock formations and deep red and orange dirt. You don’t get to see pre-historic water marks lining every formation you can see. Sedona had all of these and more.

After our wonderfully luxurious spa day at Amara Spa, we went hiking up the Bell Rock to check out these Vortices we’d heard so much about. If you have no idea what I’m talking about – you aren’t alone. I had never heard of these vortex sites prior to being in Arizona:

Vortex Sites
A Vortex is a place in nature where the earth is exceptionally alive with energy. The term Vortex in Sedona refers to a place where the earth energy swirls and draws to it’s center everything that surrounds it like a tornado. At these magical sites, trees often exhibit this swirling or twisting of their trunks due the powerful vortex energy at the core of a Sedona Vortex. – See more.

Below are some of my favorite select photographs from Sedona. Enjoy:

After exploring all the vortex sites we could we ended our trip with a visit to Page Spring Cellars for a wine tasting. Lovely views, great wine, and even better company.
